Kindergarten options in this classroom

As the largest of our three classrooms, the Super Stars℠ room is thoughtfully designed to help children prepare for a confident transition to elementary school.

Some families choose to spend a second year in this program, using it as a personalized Kindergarten year, offering a more developmentally rich, play-based alternative before entering Grade 1.*

A Space to Grow and Lead

The open layout supports both independent exploration and collaborative learning, while cozy corners invite rest, reading, and reflection.

Skill-Building Experiences

Children engage in hands-on cooking classes, nature-based science exploration, and meaningful, practical skill development throughout the day.

Child-Led Programming

Our educators follow the interests of the children—encouraging leadership, problem-solving, and a deeper sense of agency as they prepare for the next step in their learning journey.

Indoor shared SPACES:

Lobby & Coat Room

At Raising Stars℠, our entryway, lobby, and coat room are more than just transitional spaces—they are the heart of our community. Thoughtfully designed to feel inviting and inspiring, these areas set the tone for each day, offering comfort, connection, and a true sense of belonging.

Parent Resource Shelves

Explore helpful handouts and take-home resources focused on topics like Reggio Emilia, the Curiosity Approach, Hygge in the Early Years, and child development. This space empowers families to stay informed and inspired.

Family Lending Library

Our school library is open to all Raising Stars families! Borrow preschool-loved books to share bedtime stories or enjoy quiet moments together at home.

Centre Info wall

Stay connected with our information wall featuring monthly newsletters, weekly calendars, fire drill records, and upcoming closure dates. Seasonal displays—from festive holiday scenes to baby chicks hatching in spring—bring this wall to life year-round.

Sensory Room

At Raising Stars℠, we welcome children of all abilities. Our Sensory Room provides a calm, nurturing space where children can regulate emotions, develop sensory and motor skills, or take a peaceful break from the busy classroom.

Calm & Supportive Space

Our Sensory Room is a quiet, nurturing area where children can reset, regulate emotions, or take a peaceful break from the busy classroom. It’s perfect for Little Stars children who need a separate nap area or for 1-on-1 sensory, fine motor, or gross motor activities.

Personalized Development

Children of all abilities benefit from extra time, space, or support. Our educators work alongside each child to help them feel calm, secure, and engaged while developing essential skills in a safe, familiar environment.

Trusted Setting

The Sensory Room provides a comfortable space for external professionals—like occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, play therapists, child counselors, and family social workers—to work with your child. Play-based support in a familiar environment helps children feel relaxed, engaged, and ready to learn. Please coordinate all appointments through our administrative staff.

Imagination Station

Living in the Okanagan means we sometimes face extreme heat, cold, or smoky skies. That’s why Raising Stars℠ created the Imagination Station—an indoor play space where children can enjoy active play, imagination, and peer connection all year long.

Why Dramatic Play Matters

The Imagination Station is a favorite among our classrooms, giving children the chance to reenact real-life situations, explore emotions, and try out different roles. Through play, they build problem-solving, social-emotional, and communication skills in a safe, supportive space.

Play Features

  • Child-sized grocery store

  • Cozy house and dinner corner

  • Full dress-up shelf with authentic materials

  • Large dollhouses, dolls, and a nursery corner

More Than Fun

Outside Play Spaces:

Adventure Yard

Our Adventure Yard is the main outdoor space where children can truly be themselves, growing, playing, and developing every part of who they are.

A standout feature of our yard is the presence of two small hills winding along our walking, running, and riding track. These hills offer a natural way for kids to strengthen muscles that might not get as much challenge on flat surfaces, supporting their physical development in a fun and engaging way.

Seasons of Adventure

Our yard transforms with the seasons—sledding hills, a snow kitchen, and cozy winter teepees give way to barefoot mud play, water fun, and endless nature exploration from spring through fall.

Authentic Play Materials

Instead of plastics, children explore with real materials like pans, whisks, and wood cookies—everyday items that spark creativity, imagination, and meaningful play.

Safe & Secure

Tucked behind our preschool, the Adventure Yard is fully enclosed and protected from neighbors and traffic, giving children the freedom to play, explore, and grow with confidence.

Nature Yard

Our Nature Yard is exactly what it sounds like—a natural outdoor space where children can engage in exciting, adventurous, and sometimes riskier play experiences.

From working together to tend their classroom’s garden bed, to hopping from log to log, or mixing magical creations at the potion table, there’s always something thrilling happening in the Nature Yard!

A Hub for Special Events

The Nature Yard hosts many of our most cherished traditions, including graduation photo day, making it a space filled with lasting memories.

Meaningful Play

Here, children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and connect through open-ended play that sparks creativity and curiosity.

Authentic Materials

With fewer plastics and more real-world tools—like baking pans, cooking utensils, and natural elements—children engage in richer, more cooperative play experiences.
